How I photograph cars

For me photographing a car is more than just taking a picture of it. I want the photos to show what makes that specific car stand out, whether thats the design, the details or just the overall atmosphere around it.

Before I start shooting I look at the location, lighting and surroundings. I try different angles and perspectives instead of taking the same standard shots every time.

During the shoot I usually start with full shots of the car and then move closer to things like badges, wheels, lights, interiors and other details that catch my attention. I also like experimenting with reflections and backgrounds to make the photos more interesting.

Afterwards I go through the photos and choose the ones I like most before editing them. I try to keep the car looking natural while improving the lighting, colours and overall atmosphere.

Im still learning and developing my own style with every shoot and thats one of the things I enjoy most about photography.

My first wedding shoot

On 11 July 2026 I photographed my first wedding style shoot. It was for my mum and stepdad who were celebrating their five year wedding anniversary.

For the shoot they put their wedding clothes back on and we went to an old castle ruin to recreate the feeling and memories of their original wedding day.

Most of my photography before this had been focused on cars, so this was something completely different for me. I had to think more about posing people, capturing natural moments and using the surroundings to make the photos feel special.

The castle ruins gave us an amazing setting and I also focused on smaller details like the flowers, clothing and little moments between them.

It was my first experience taking this kind of photography seriously and I learned a lot from it. More importantly it showed me that I really enjoy photographing weddings and people and its something I would love to do more of in the future.

My Story

The story behind mm_spotting

My interest in photography started when I was around 10 years old. I got a small compact camera and pretty much immediately started taking it everywhere with me. At the time I wasn't thinking about becoming a photographer or starting anything serious. I just enjoyed taking pictures of whatever caught my attention.

Cars were already a massive part of my life long before photography became one. You could probably tell that pretty quickly from my huge collection of miniature cars, which is still growing today.

I have always been interested in different cars, their designs, the details and everything surrounding car culture.

Because I loved cars so much, my parents started taking me to different car events. Naturally, the camera came with me.

I started photographing the cars I saw and slowly began combining two things I already loved, cars and photography. As I got older I started going to more events myself, seeing new cars and experimenting with different ways of capturing them.

One of the biggest parts of that journey has been the people I've met along the way. Going to events and photographing cars introduced me to other photographers, car owners and people who shared the same interests.

Those experiences helped turn something I originally just did for fun into something I wanted to take more seriously.

Always learning, shooting and improving

Over time my cameras changed, my photography improved and I started developing my own style. I began paying more attention to things like lighting, angles, reflections, locations and the smaller details that can completely change a photograph.

Eventually all of that grew into mm_spotting Photography.

Cars are still a huge part of what I photograph and where everything started, but I don't want my photography to stop there. I've started experimenting with other types of photography too, including weddings, pets, events, interiors and anything else that gives me an interesting story or moment to capture.

I'm still learning, meeting new people, and seeing where photography takes me next. That's probably one of my favourite things about it. There is always another event, another car, another person or another moment waiting to be photographed.
